Connections

As a part time graduate student and full time special education teacher I find that I am making many connections between my studies and my career. I am currently taking a course titled Foundations of New Literacies and Technology for Curricular Practice. Technology use in the classroom is one of the big topics that we cover. I am finding that in my preschool classroom there is not any technology. It is my hope that I can work to bring technolgy into the classrooms in my building as I feel it will better the education of ALL my students! What are your thoughts about the inclusion of technology in preschool classrooms?

I apologize for my lack of posts recently. It has been very busy in my life as I am sure it has been busy for anyone else working in education. I have been working as a preschool special education teacher in a half day program. I love going to work everyday and have been really enjoying what I have been doing. It has always been my dream to open and run my own preschool so this is a step in the right direction! We are wrapping up our week of Fun with Pumpkins and Halloween and it has been so much fun. The kids have loved all the activities we have done and for the most part have been engaged in all that we did. I am going through a tough time right now as my lead classroom teacher quit her job. My hope is that our new lead teacher will be starting next week. It is a lot fulfilling the responsibilities of my own job but now I have taken on the responsibilities of the lead teacher as well. It has been a little crazy to say the least. We will be beginning to plan for a weekly unit on being kind and teaching the letter K as well as Fun with Thanksgiving. Does anyone have ideas that can be used to teach any of these concepts at the preschool level. Until next time!
